Printing Business Cards
How to print your business cards locally
Once you’ve received your business card file from us (as a print-ready PDF), follow the steps below to get your cards professionally printed at a local print shop.
Locate a local print shop
- Search online for “printing services” or “business card printing” in your city.
- You can also check chain stores (e.g., FedEx Office, Staples, local stationery stores) or ask colleagues for recommendations.
Contact the printer
- Let them know you have a print-ready business card file and would like a quote for printing.
Prepare your files
- Ensure you have the print-ready PDF file received from us.
- Download the file to your computer or a USB flash drive, or have it ready to attach to an email.
Discuss your requirements
Provide the printer with the following details.
- Card size: Your business card is created at 89mm (3.5 inches) x 51mm (2 inches). If required we can send you a version of your business cards with document bleed, trim marks and registration marks. Your printer will let you know if this is necessary.
- Print resolution: Your business card is already at print resolution (300dpi).
- Paper type: We recommend at matt finish on 300gsm stock.
- Printing sides: Double-sided.
- Quantity: Common batches are 100, 250, or 500 cards.
- Finishes: These are options that printers will often offer including rounded corners, lamination, or special coatings etc. You do not need any special finishes on your business card.
Send the file
- If emailing: Attach the print file and CC yourself for reference.
- If in person: Bring the file on a USB or ask if they accept file uploads via their website.
Ask for a proof
- Request a digital or printed proof to double check your name, contact details, and layout.
- IMPORTANT: Check carefully for any errors before approving the final print run.
Approve and pay
- Once you approve the proof, confirm the order and finalize payment (most print shops accept card or cash).
Collect your cards
- Business cards are usually ready within a few days.
- You’ll receive a pickup date or can arrange for delivery where available.
Helpful tips
- Double-check details: Before printing, verify all personal information is accurate.
- Keep a digital copy: Always save the final card file for future print runs or updates.
- Ask about reprints: Some printers keep your file on record for easy re-orders.
